Handheld Laser Cleaner by Power — 50 W vs 100 W

Handheld laser cleaning means pulsed fiber, air-cooled, no chiller. The only real handheld power levels are 50 W and 100 W — two distinct outputs optimized for different surface conditions, not an arbitrary wattage ladder.

Pulsed 50 W

Entry-level portable cleaning: lightest unit, lowest heat input, finest ablation control. Best for thin rust and oxide, conservation-grade precision work, mould cavities and heat-sensitive alloys. Where substrate integrity matters more than throughput, 50 W is the correct choice.

Pulsed 100 W

Higher throughput while keeping the air-cooled, portable format. Handles thicker rust on structural steel and weld pre-treatment at production pace in the field. Also used for coating removal on large fabrications where bringing parts to a fixed station is impractical.

Beyond Handheld — When Fixed-Station Power Is Right
