Pulsed Laser Cleaning by Power — 50 W vs 100 W
Pulsed laser cleaning uses nanosecond-burst energy delivery for precise, low-heat surface ablation. The real pulsed handheld formats available are 50 W and 100 W — two outputs suited to different levels of contamination and throughput requirements.
Pulsed 50 W — Maximum Precision
The 50 W pulsed unit is the lightest and most controlled format: lowest average power, finest ablation control, minimum thermal effect on substrate. Suited for thin rust and oxide films, conservation-grade work (art, heritage objects), mould cavity cleaning, and any surface where substrate integrity is the primary concern. Air-cooled; no chiller required.
Pulsed 100 W — Portable Throughput
The 100 W pulsed unit retains the air-cooled, portable design of the 50 W while adding throughput for faster passes on heavier rust, thicker oxide or larger weld pre-treatment areas. Still handheld-portable for on-site field work. Choose 100 W when 50 W is too slow for the contamination level but continuous water-cooled systems are impractical on site.
When Pulsed Is Not Enough
For thick scale (≥ 3 mm), large continuous areas, or production throughput ≥ 50 m²/h, pulsed power is the wrong tool regardless of wattage. These applications require continuous 3000 W or 6000 W with water cooling. See Pulsed vs Continuous comparison or Heavy Continuous Cleaning 3000–6000 W.
